Bailando Dance Festival serves as an educational outreach by providing master classes in a variety of dance styles and offering opportunities for aspiring and seasoned choreographers and professional companies to show culturally diverse works in an artistically growing environment.
In September 2000, Bailando Dance Festival was first initiated as part of Corpus Christi Concert Ballet's Dance Initiative, encouraging local dance studios and companies to perform works of art under the stars at the outdoor Cole Park Ampitheater in Corpus Christi, Texas. After 18 years, Bailando has become an international dance festival and is now its own 501 (c) 3 organization. It has grown into a full weekend event featuring evening dance concerts and master classes in a variety of dance styles, all held at the sparkling Texas A&M University Corpus Christi. Bailando has provided the South Texas community with culturally diverse works of dance performed by companies and individuals from areas throughout North and Central America!
Bailando not only engages dance students throughout the event weekend, but also brings the educational outreach into local area schools. The goal is to inspire young people to be active physically while exposing them arts education with the help of our professional guest artists. These internationally known professional teachers move with the students and guide them through creative movement.
