Stephanie Sermas


Stephanie began studying dance at an early age, but took a leave of absence from dance to focus on her college studies.  She attended Georgetown University, where she received a degree in International Business and Marketing.  She has since earned a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Houston and holds certifications to teach Dance and Theater in Texas public schools.  Stephanie currently performs professionally with Houston City Dance, where she is beginning her eight season.  As a staff member at Houston City Dance, she teaches a variety of classes, including all levels of tap, as well as choreographs for the Professional Company and the Ensemble.  Her tap choreography can be seen in Houston City Dance’s successful Urban Ballet, where she combines intricate tap rhythms with hip-hop dance styles in “Me Against the World.”  Previously, Houston City Dance performed her tap tribute to women’s baseball, “Batter Up!” at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.  She recently premiered her first evening-length work, Calliope! which combined a variety of dance styles throughout history.  She also serves and the dance director at the Awty International School..
